In reality, I see no problem with cloning at the basis. If we can do it, why not? However, my only fear is overpopulation due to cloning. Out world is pretty much becoming increasingly overcrowded, and we're running out of options on how to sustain ourselves. So, this could be an indirect bitch.

Wait, overpopulation is your main concern?
I thought the main reason we don't do this stuff with human tissue is because of fear of genetic mutation, or even complexity?
*shrug* I'm not much of a science mind. I'm thinking of a post-birth, greater good, type thing. Hence, overpopulation.
However, I can definately see genetic mutations being a hugeeee problem.

I'm pretty sure the goal of this research is to create stem cells identical to the client's cells so you can have give the patient stem cells that will grow into a healthy version of whatever diseased organ they have... They're not growing people per se (that's f*cking expensive anyways, you'd have to grow the damn thing for years until you could do anything with your investment... if they wanted to do something that unethical, they'd just stick with stealing organs and selling them on the blackmarket), so there shouldn't be any problems concerning genetic mutations because nobody's going to pay to have an unfinished product (the mutated lab results) brought out of the lab (I think the opinion article talked about this but I barely read it).
In my opinion, the only problem that can arise from this research is a dead end. Or if you're religious and believe eggs have souls.

Ah, I couldn't agree with you more.
It would've been awesome though if something freaky happened. I'm just sayin', ever since Deus Ex, my mind is opening to new possibilities of evolution, not by natural means.
I really dont see in any point of cloneing full scale people. I mean really whats the point? I agree with above in that it would be much better to close organs and what not.
Sorta reminds me of that movie the Island, same basic stuff haha.
Forgive the crappy grammar!

I do not think one could claim that there is an overpopulation at present. Instead it is mis-allocation, massive inefficiency, and corruption. This, however, is to be expected when we are dealing with humans.
On the matter of crowding though, we see from population density maps that it is not a matter of space, but rather too many people in one area.
