They say that Operation Iraqee Freedom is over, However I disagree so I was wondering do others agree or disagree with me.
As far as ime concerened we still have american soldiers over there fighting in a combat zone an they still have to gear up daily for war. We are still at war in my thoughts.
God bless the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
Actually, it is over. Just because we have troops stationed in Iraq, doesn't mean we are at war. We have troops stationed around the world- Germany, Japan, Russia, and a bunch of other countries that we are not actively in combat with. Further, a lot of the US forces in Iraq are there for peacekeeping or Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRTs). Basically, they help train locals to spot terrorist activity, increase independence, and make a viable government that allows a tranistition away from US occupation to their own individual government.
I suggest reading up on them. They're fascinating.

I think the war has been over for some time. Its just a name we put on it now for headlines and what not.
There have been less and less troops over there so it doesnt seem to me like its much of a war. Since once you are able to send less and less into battle, the war is over. At least its over in my eyes.
Forgive the crappy grammar!

I understand we have troops all around the world, however they are not in a combat situation. In Iraq they are still in a combat situation. They are still soldiers dieing there like the young marine sargent who died just the other day. That doesnt happen in germany were we have a base. Its sad it trually is.

We aren't in a war with Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other Middle Eastern nation. We are at war with terrorist groups who don't play by the rules of war. So, while there have been deaths, they aren't in combat. The troops are just there to watch out for the US, not engage in active warfare unless provoked.
And there aren't deaths around Germany and Japan simply because there hasn't been combat in those places since WWII, AND there aren't copious amounts of terrorist factions wanting to kill Americans in the area.

I'd like to call it " Operation Iraq Depredation ", this name actually fits more...
...and I don't think the US stupid and selfish interferences are over there, even if combats don't take place right there. The US will never be over with the middle east! However, I think Iraq Operation is behind The US now, because there are more profitable operations to get its nose within, just like Libya...

I know theres no deaths on our other foreign bases because no combat situations however in the middle east there is combat going on.

But there aren't combat missions. They are, for the most part, in self defense. We have cleared out of Iraq (or in the process of doing so), Though we still have boots on the ground, it isn't a military conflict. Just US military presence.

Yeh, military presence with soldiers being shot at, sounds like thats not war to me

Its not, sad to say. If we're dancing with technicalities here, all it is is foreign threats by a terrorist organization. Sure, we're fighting a group of extremeists who are dickheads and kill Americans in cold blood, but under the Geneva Convention, we aren't at war with them.
