The Mayans predicted that on the 21st of December 2012, the world will end. Other groups/authorities/individuals have predicted something similiar around the same time. Personally, despite hoping these are true, I really don't think they will happen. Clearly some people do:

21st December 2012, could you get any more precise?

Most people only believe it cause they made a film called '2012'. I bet, if they never made that film a lot less people would believe it. The end of the world has been predicted a zillion times before with all these little predictions, but they are NEVER EVER true! So why is the 21st December 2012 anything special? It isn't.
