Its not like we can pretend racism has never existed, so I don't agree that it should be removed from literature. But in real life conversation its a complete no go- I suppose half the retards in my school who use it don't even know what it means.

No, that's like the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It emphasizes how things were at that time, it reveals what type of people used the word, etc. It's offensive, but it's apart of history. And we learn about civil rights, etc. because we do not want to make the same mistakes we have already made. If someone is too sensitive to read or hear the word, then they need to come to reality. This is life and this is how blacks were addressed and treated. It's important to know.
