Not really. I mean, since Aff Action has arguably better economic standing for minorities. Further, if we eliminate Aff Action simply because the actions against minorities are "outdated", should we force the Native Americans off their reservations and let the gvmt control it?

I have a friend who lives in Canada, and she got turned down for a job that she was fully qualified for (that paid $20/hr.) because they said they had filled all their slots for white people but didn't have enough minorities. In other words, she was racially discriminated against, by law. That's what affirmative action is: discrimination.
Yes, it's stupid plus insulting. What? You don't think minorities and woman can't get jobs on their own without it being regulated or forced?
You think minorities and women (and minority women) are too damn incompetent to get hired based on what they can do without the help of others?
That's just not discrimination against people who can do the job the best, that's discrimination in every possible way!
Unless you think minorities and women are incompetent to begin with and can never measure up again white men. And that makes it even more stupid.
Basically, it's stupid no matter what way you put it. It's an insult to know you only got the job for being a minority or a woman. Unless you love someone got screwed because they were better at the job and you're just a token minority or a token bitch. In which case, you're just too stupid and incompetent to realize how insulting it is. And you shouldn't have the job anyway if that's the case.
A company's job is to function. You need the best people available to do so. So the rational thing to do is select the one best for a job.

Actually if we ever did kick them off then the land should be sold. And considering we gave them the reservations in the first place, that does give someone the right to boot them out. We didn't even owe them land in the first place. And now we don't even more so. We didn't do anything to them, people from the past did. They refused to assimilate, they refused to get along (with exception, of course), they hostile tribes started shit with us, why should they be reward for that?
But no the government shouldn't control it. That would be stupid. The land could be put to much better use. And at the very least the casinos should be taxed.

Affirmative action is hypocritical, pure and simple: either discrimination is wrong, or it is not wrong. If it is not wrong then affirmative action is unnecessary as there is nothing wrong with certain types of people being favoured over others. If it is wrong, then affirmative action is also wrong as it is necessarily discrimination itself.
A brilliant example of authorities going with the old-skool philosophy "two wrongs make a right."

btw, i wasn't ignoring this, i haven't logged on in a while.
but anyway, sure, it's better for them economically because they have jobs. however, the question is not, is this beneficial to minorities, the question is do these minorities have the work experience, the education to truly be qualified for this particular job. Now, my argument is that if someone doesn't deserve a job, then why the hell should they get that job because they are a certain race? And that my friend is the entire reason why affirmative action is stupid, now. And i hate how you say "outdated" because that's not really what im arguing.

I agree that race and gender shouldn't stop you from getting a job, although gender might step in, in some rare situations. Not everything is black and white, of course.
I do disagree when you say age shouldn't be taken in consideration. It should. If I'm looking for someone to get a job done, and I'm looking for someone of young age, then I'll hire a youngster rather than a more aged individual, and vice versa.
Of course, exceptions would take place, which would be during interviews. If I really thought a person could get it done regardless of his/her age, then welcome aboard.
But, my atittude might be wrong. It's just my opinion anyway.

I understand your opinion, however, it's kind of prejudice in a way. And that shouldn't be the deciding factor.
