...except there is provision under the law for strikes, and teachers' contracts do not include them waiving these rights. If someone wants to strike, they are perfectly within their legal rights not to work. Their employer is perfectly within their legal rights to take disciplinary action against them and potentially fire them. The only reason this doesn't usually happen with strikes is because they are on such a huge scale and, in this case, the teachers' unions could cause significant problems if this were to happen. Mob rule, y'know. Kinda crude, actually, but not civil disobedience.
