First off, let's start with this. I will personally read every post and report the ones that I think are personal attacks. This thread is no longer attacking someone for their personal beliefs. I'm sorry @Syrian for that.
Debate here, but please keep it civilized. Use whatever means to prove your point, just no personal attacks.
When I say "society" I don't mean a christian society, I mean an American Multicultural secular society.
Apart from an increased spread of STD's due to the lack of a need to wear a condom (for males), there's no real issue that I can think of off the top of my head.
I wonder what you mean by a "social phenomenon"? No, it's true, I do not think homosexuality is a social phenomenon (and then, it is also possible that my understanding of English crap, I have a misunderstanding of the meaning of the subject) . After that, I think you're talking about effects on American society? is that correct? You should know that worldwide, one in ten is gay. What I know is that the company has evolved a lot since the 60s, and today, the old conservative tendencies are simply better suited to today's society. I am well aware that even in some countries, this societal issue is taboo. But at least in France, assault or homophobic discrimination are penalized and this trend is growing nationally recognized (SVT programs now offers a "gender theory" that has caused controversy at home in the ranks of the conservative right). As the United States of America, I've never entered, but it seems that all these laws and the general maturity for this question is still quite taboo. At least, this varies by state (New York and Ohio ... uh, for example). For me, it's time that people wake up a bit and go out of their bubble Catholic conservative and harmful to the freedom of others. Personally, I'm quite happy to live in my country where a strict separation of church state exists, allowing the Holy See not to have too much power. Attitudes change, before they were not ready to have this form of operation, now so. And sorry, but I am particularly hostile to those against homosexuality in general and who prey on them, or us, yes, for free. I find it dangerous to religion, because it values inqulqué men sometimes very bad. I sometimes find that it is a psychological problem because I do not see discrimination in itself; What I think is that religions play a lot. Even if ... it's not there yet. In 2011, people insult me again and discrimination exists. Personally, I do not understand how we can do that to people. Really. Sorry not to get too involved in the debate on the United States, I made you a little summary for France but I'm far from the main theme. Where are the gay rights there and do the maturity is closed at this trend and instead more open? The government tends to minimize the crimes of homophobic or otherwise, complain? So many questions, this debate will be interesting!
PS: I hope no wrong way what I said ... Sorry if any. And sorry for the crappy English at a discount, but I could not speak with my words.
Edit for Sot : STDs affect more heterosexuals than homosexuals in the process.
I find no problem at all with homosexuality. Some argue that it isn't natural, but humans aren't the only species of animal to have homosexual tendencies
