Default Online identification?

Hey guys, I will take a guess that you all are on at least one social networking site (twitter, facebook, youtube, etc) and if not, you play on online gaming networks (Wii network, Playstation Network, Xbox live, Steam, etc)

And I guess many of you will have encountered many people who are below age limits, under 13 and using facebook, playing Call of Duty and they're only 8, etc.

Now I am wondering, would you see online identification as a good idea. I mean you go into a shop, you have to show ID to buy alcohol, age rated movies/games. So would you see it as a good idea to have to input maybe an 8 digit number when creating an account for online sites, and this 8 digit number will be your online ID. The ID would be controlled by the government or something, and it holds all your details (age, gender, DoB, name, etc) And instead of having to fill out long forms, you just put in the 8 digit number, and it will automatically fill in all of your details, so when you activate your account, you won't have to change anything (unless you want to, e.g. name - nickname)

So what do you think? Do you think this sort of thing may be a good idea? Do you think it would work?

*also I know 8 digits wouldn't be enough, but it was just an example.

No. I don't like Big Brother having all of my information, thank you very much.

What do you mean? As in a way to prove that somebody is underage and therefore won't be able to purchase/play games with an age requirement? If that's the case; then why? Lmao. Who the hell wants to ruin somebody else's fun?

If that's not what you're saying, then chop your post down so it's easier to understand please?

Also, I don't think stuff like this should be controlled by the government. Nobody would like that

Lmao why? You're just ruining things for people, I don't understand why anyone would want to do that. Obviously it should apply to having accounts on videosex sites and sex chat rooms and the such, but stuff like games? Lmao why? So you're saying you've never played a game that required you to be older?

There's a reason for the age limit, and it's not to take away there fun. There may be sex, violence or drugs etc in the game.

^ If your child is exposed to these too young, and you don't want them to, then you fail as a parent. You don't give the government their details and allow them to be monitored. at least, that's what I think.

I'd feel uncomfortable with this, to be honest.

Well then the majority of parents fail.

It'd probably make more sense to increase the warning on game content, then.
