"If it turns out that there is a God,I don'tthink that he's evil. Butthe worst that you can say about him is that basically he's an underachiever."
Let me make this clear in a very large font:
This is my thread and I won't be made an idiot because of you fools who take everything as a personal insult to your intelligence. This is a debate, there IS NO RIGHT ANSWER. The winner will be whoever best supports their argument. ANY ANY ANY ANY ANY EVEN A TEENY WEENY LITTLE TINY MICROSCOPIC BIT OF FIGHTING OR PERSONAL ATTACKS WILL BE REPORTED. I WILL READ EVERY SINGLE POST AND REPORT EVERY SINGLE POST THAT I DEEM INNAPPROPRIATE. If you have doubts about if you should post something, then don't post it. This is an intellectual debate, and if you're not grown up enough to handle it then get out now.
Now, go!

First of all, that's very presumtive! No need to say all that, just report posts. Mods will deal with it.
OT:
If God did exist, then I believe he doesn't give a damn about what happens. It wasn't his impact on the Earth, it is our own. It would be hard to believe that God was actually controlling every action and everything we do, as this would have to deny us free will. Therefore, he no longer has anything to do with us nor this world. Because if he did, we would have to deny a lot of God's "qualities" or use some of the theodicies to get around problems, such as the problem of evil.
Nah , it would be against the Free will he gives .
for example some people say "oh God took him away!" for a death
no God doesnt take people or choose who dies... he doesnt do anything. we did choose to live away from him and be able to die .
Anybody can become angry , Thats really easy ...
but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.
My extremely humble and not-meant-to-be-flamebait-in-any-way personal opinion:
I believe very strongly that if the Abrahamic God existed exactly as depicted in the Bible, he'd be one hell of a sadistic, passive-aggressive mofo.
Seriously, just read the Old Testament. The dude is off his rocker. He created the Universe to look exactly like it would if the Big Bang theory were true. He creates people a certain way and then condemns them to burn in hell forever for being that way. He's cool with slavery. He indiscriminately kills people right and left for the most petty misdeeds. He allows/causes widespread hunger, pain, starvation and death to somehow create "free will" for the people who are left.
tl;dr: He would be evil if he existed.

If you were to question his moral standing, we'd have to ask if God follows the same rules as humans, or vice versa. Is morality something that God created and we follow, or is it man made that we place people and events in to? For instance, God.

I suppose it depends on who you ask, but I would expect it to be the former in the context of the Bible.
Numbers 14:18 comes to mind:
"The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation."
Talk about a contradictory and hypocritical God. He's supposedly loving and forgiving, and then he turns around and punishes people who weren't even alive at the time for the misdeeds of their parents and ancestors. And people actually find the idea of this guy being in control of everything comforting! That bewilders me greatly.

Bare in mind that the Bible was written by human beings, not by God. What they could have believed was right and wrong back then is a lot different to now. Back then, God was seen to be vengeful, and would do the things mentioned. Nowadays, we'd see God as kind and loving, and if we wrote a new Bible, we'd be mentioning this non-stop. It just goes to show how the Bible seems to change along with the morals of humans.
