This is more speculation than anything, and I do not claim to know squat about the subject at hand, but I wanted to see it discussed because it's been on my mind for awhile.
Do you believe there will be an end of the world? Not a physical one; I am not talking about the destruction of the earth by a meteor or another natural disaster. I'm talking about the complete collapse of human civilization. Meaning that our countries will fall apart; people will rebel against their leaders, the law becoming meaningless, hundreds of wars will be waged, and millions of people will die from either warfare, starvation or crime.
With all of the terror and killing that we have seen (the media grossly exaggerates a lot of it, but that does not downplay the actual brutal nature of the acts committed), the collapse of many countries under another great depression, and the rise of rebellion among people against their own leaders, does it seem like perhaps, just maybe, the world may actually end, for human beings, in the near future? If not next year, maybe somewhere sooner beyond that?

You realise this shit happens on a regular basis since the dawn of civilisation? If anything we're better than our predecessors, just it's more pumped into us by the media because it's what people almost want to see now (and therefore it gets the highest ratings), disasters make for good news.
I agree that the media is causing a lot of unecessary anxiety, but perhaps with advanced technology it would be easier for us to destroy ourselves. Of course I have no real idea about it, so I can't say much!

You mean on a more massive scale? It's already happening, sure, but if I gather what you mean correctly you mean it happening more often, even in more developed countries.
If yes then... while I doubt it, I think it would certainly make for an interesting show. Personally if the end of the world was going to happen, I'd rather it be that way. It would be much more fun to watch humanity rip itself apart while I'm sitting in my hermit cave, enjoying the show while being armed to the teeth in case someone tried to sneak into my cave.
But I still doubt it all the same. You may see it here and there but I doubt it'll ever be on a mass scale or anything. People like to pretend to be civilized you know. In general at least.
Of course, nothing is out of the possibility. If it's happened before, then it can just as easily happen again.
Meh, I don't know. But if it does, I get dibs on the best cave out there because I want to be a spectator.

I agree with @Poontang, this shit has happened over and over before. Nothing new.
There have been predictions that humanity will eventually die out by about 10,000 AD, and some estimations that about half of the humans who have ever lived have already been born. Everything eventually comes to an end, it's just not as sudden and soon as the media would have us believe.

Just because few peoples this year overthrew their fat-ass dictators, and a couple of Tsunami's happened, doesn't mean that the world has come to an end.
But yeah! I believe that the world will come to an end one day, but we will never know how or when until it happens...
