The media is very much anti-racism. I deify you to find me a mainstream (i.e. BBC) news article supporting racism from the last 10 years, and even is there is one there'll be thousands against it.
For example, the lady on the underground, do you see any mainstream news supporting her?

I don't know man, I think oftentimes what we refer to as "racism" could actually be classified as ethnocentrism, which is different.

I just realized something earlier today when thinking about racism and all its possible causes. I think virtually all people are aware that skin colour doesn't dictate someone's behaviour, and at the same time most of the racist statements and beliefs that I see are directed more at an element of a culture or subculture.

FOR EXAMPLE. "Niggers steal bikes." I think everyone knows (including racists) that the colour of a person's skin doesn't dictate their behaviour or propensity for theft, as those are acquired elements of the culture one is born into. If a child grows up in a culture wherein murder and theft are perceived as acceptable and even desirable as an initiation rite of sorts, then chances are that child will murder and steal. "Niggers listen to shitty music. Niggers eat disgusting food." Again, music and food preferences are largely cultural, not racial. "Niggers are stupid." If by "stupidity" they mean "uneducated," once again, cultural. One's skin colour doesn't determine one's education or lack thereof.

Hopefully you see the point I'm trying to make. Nearly all "racism" that I see ultimately is directed at cultures that others outside said cultures perceive as negative, rather than skin colour. I think the only reason people really divide themselves along racial lines is a matter of convenience, since all it takes (in theory) is a quick glance at someone to make a guesstimation of what culture they belong to. Obviously it's not really that simple, but then again, humans are silly creatures.

Well, we can't look into a crystal ball and predict how humans will interact with one another fifty years from now. Though, racism is probably cyclical, like many things. All it takes is one war, disagreement or feud between ethnic groups or countries and everything comes undone. Perfect equality can't exist in society, and as humans, we will always look for a certain class of people to look down upon.

Its certainly not as bad as it was say 30 years ago, thanks to footballers Luis Suarez and John Terry its being highlighted as an issue in sport. Racism used to be horrific but is nowhere near the levels which it used to be, its decreasing.

I see it on a decline that will only leave diehard racists left. I only say this because eventually everyone on earth will be a bunch of races. You can already see the mixing of the races today.

Im japanese and half of my cousins are half white XD

So yea soon the whole world will just be this dark pinkish color haha.

I see an incline since media is very much racist and not many are saying anything in response. Immigration and middle east coverage should make that clear.

Brown is the new black.

I think as the barrier across nations start to dissolve as a result of globalisation, people will increasingly seek to cling on to their identities and increasingly seek to belong to a sub group. Therefore I feel that ethnicity will increase and in turn might cause people to be more race concious. But I am not too sure about the act of disrespect to other races. I think there is always an undercurrent of racism in any society despite what is being portrayed outwardly.

I feel that instead of being decreased, it's increasing with more "new age" people saying that "You just don't have a sense of humor" when they make a racist joke.

I feel oftentimes, specially with younger people, it feels like they don't understand that it's still racist, doesn't matter if it's funny. It's still racist.

"And then I gave this black guy a piece of watermelon... TROLOLOL."
"That's racist."
"No it's not. You just have no sense of humor"

That kind of thing seems to be happening. People are beginning to convince themselves the racism is okay, as long as it's humorous.

I think racism in some areas will decrease as the cultures blend, but segregation and prejudice will always remain as they do not only pertain to your race or culture but to everything from your philosophies, to your taste in clothes, to your social status. etc.
