Re: Pokemon Conspiracy and Controversy
I don't think Satan is real, and I have been an avid Pokémon player most of my life and have turned out fine.
I've seen this kind of thing before. Some very fundamentalist religious people get scared of a harmless cultural phenomenon amongst young people that crosses religious borders, and, wanting to shelter their children, make up bullshit about how it is Satanic or something.
I find it so funny how religious leaders can claim to be so sure their faith is correct, yet get scared at any chance their followers have to end up coming across ideas that are not of their faith.
Hell, the guy in the Catholic church who watches movies so he could tell people which ones they shouldn't watch recommended people not watch Paul because of it allegedly being an "atheist movie." There are some fundamentalist Christian characters in the movie, there's a rant about evolution, and there's one comment where a guy says "God be with you" and Paul says "yeah, whatever."
It wasn't so much promoting atheism as having atheist characters. But maybe to those with wavering faith, the acknowledgement of other viewpoints seems to be an attack on their faith.
