You may have already heard, but in 2014 the SNP are planning to hold a referendum on Scottish independence. Personally I'm still undecided on the issue, mostly because I'm not quite sure how exactly how an independent Scotland would work, or even if it would work. I'm not even sure that I trust Alex Salmond.

I was just wondering what others, Scots and non-Scots, thought about the issue.

Well, as many say 'Every nation has the right to be independent' - that's what I say as well. Even if I know it'd not be that easy, and I don't know if it'd work. But in basics, I'm for every nation's independence. So, I voted Yes.

@Walt2407: What's the problem (if there is any) with small countries? We (,yeah, Hungary is a small country as well - 93030 km2) - are still countries, even with bigger histories than USA and Canada.

Not any smaller than it is now or was before the forming of the United Kingdom, assuming you're talking about physical size and not population.

@Novanter I didn't mean it that way. I'm also Salvadorian and El Salvador is 20,040km2.

The UK as it is now is a relatively small country. it seems to be doing okay right now and once upon a time it was pretty much the world's most powerful country.

Hungary was a great power in Europe those times when Europe meant the whole world. Also, Austria-Hungary was a great power. Abdullah, if you want to argue on this - PM me.

I agree with it, simply because I believe the Scots can handle themselves. They have a shitton of oil, and that automatically makes you a friend on the international stage.
