Default Are obese children subjects of child abuse?

When I say child I mean those under 13.

Also, I don't only mean obese I just mean over weight.

Do you think it classes as child abuse?

I don't think it does.

No, they are not in control of what food they can have, but they can still choose to go outside and ride a bike or something.

Don't know, but unless they're obese due to various medical reasons then the parents are fucking stupid is all. They can get rid of the weight any time they choose to and eat less food/ask for smaller portions/eat healthier food. But I can see why people would consider it a form of child abuse

Some people have glandular problems, and are naturally obese or overweight.

Now, i think there are some cases where parents malnourish their kids with crappy food.

Their parents are responsible for their health. By making their children fat they've put their children at risk of loads of stuff.

Now I get what you're talking about.

No, I don't think it should be considered as child abuse.

Obesity itself, at least not.
When it IS about negligence, it should.

There are just too many reasons a child may be overweighted.

It's not as abusive as physical abuse, but I'd say you're setting your child up for a life in which they'll have to worry about their weight and worry about having to eat healthy because their parents did teach them how to manage their meals and diet properly.

Feeding your child food that's going to make them fat is doing a disservice to them as they'll regret it later in life.

No, it's just disgusting kids actually get taken away from their families for this, yes. Yes, it can set them up for a hard life but taking them away from their parents makes the whole situation WAY harder on the child. I mean the poor kid doesn't get why and then they tell him because he's fat? that's so much worse. I don't think that parents who JUST feed their kids junk food is good, but meh, it's better then a lot of kids who don't even get food or a house in the first place, so why the hell are we trying to take these kids out of a loving environment? I'm technically considered obese, and that's just freaking ridiculous. Yeah, I'm overweight I admit but... not that much really. it's stupid and sickening that like 30+ pounds is considered

I used to be a fat shit, but that was because I was lazy. My parents encouraged exercise but I just sat about and did fuck all. What are they supposed to do, beat me into it?
There are cases where yes, parents have been overfeeding their children to a massive extent and in some cases, children have been taken into social services because they've taken it too far, but as for the majority it's both the fault of the parents for providing such crappy food and the child for being lazy (though this could be due to the parents raising also). To mean that obesity is child abuse, then you'd have to take away all (non-medical) obese children to avoid hypocrisy. You realise how much money that would cost if the government took away that many children based on the grounds of child abuse?
Also, why under 13 for child abuse? Pretty sure until you're 18 you're viewed as a child in the eyes of the law.
