I read something about how the parents pleaded she get the full sentence but I didn't see anything indicating they did (or didn't). Perhaps I missed it.
Regardless, she's a hazard! Who just gets up on day and decides "Hm, I wonder what killing someone is like?" then goes and does it?!

She may have legit reasons for being crazy but that doesn't excuse what she did in the slightest. If she understood the basis of how murder is illegal then even in the absence of morality she should be held accountable for her actions.
