France have already decided to ban the burqa from being warned and there are penalties for those who wear and those who force others to wear them. Similar ideas a floating around the Australian public (perhaps the UK and USA, also) and I'm wondering whether people think burqas should be banned from being worn in public.
For anyone who is unaware of what a burqa, niqab or hijab is, here are some pictures: HIJAB
NIQAB BURQA
As far as I'm aware, the burqa and niqab are often considered the same for purpose of law and argument. It's banned in some countries and in many others its use is under heated discussion.
We have freedom of religion in this country. We may see it as weird to wear, but our xenophobia shouldn't be any means be justification for violation of constitutional rights. (In America)
I don't know if it should be banned, however i think there should be some policies in place.
For example, immigrants coming into our country? Pretty sure there's a law now where they have to take it off going through customs and such which I completely understand and agree with.
As well, I think it should be the woman's choice to wear it, not something that's forced on her by religion or man.
I think that you should be able to see their face. If they tried to shoplift or something...and it's a bit impractical anyway. I wouldn't want to try crossing a busy road with a burqa over my face xD
In all seriousness, I don't think we should ban them but they should show their faces.

Dearest, The days are all so long,
and in the shadows I spend them all.
My heart and I long for slumber.
Slumber I'm caressing you, I bless your touch, I lust for you.
Slumber you are not a dream, Not as much as you seem.

I think what we should do is actually ban the idiots who have their pants at their knees before we ban something because of someone's religion.
I get at some security places you have to see, fine. but for daily life, screw off.
Bagging pants are pretty revealing, yeah, but that's better than being non-revealing at all. I mean, in the UK people aren't used to seeing muslim women wearing these as Islam is only popular in areas like London, it can be extremely intimidating to others, especially children.
so?! people should be banned from their religion because other people are scared? and how people don't teach their children? that's freaking ridiculous. Just get used to it.
Like omg the world is a scary and ugly place, people need to realize that and stop trying to ban anything that "harms" us.

Those who cry, "seperation of church and state, freedom of religion!" to combat those who profess any kind of faith from doing something they disagree with, yet crosses this imaginary boundary to impose the state over the religion, is being inconsistent. Thus, it is just a persons personal subjective desire that is argued for, not what is true and right.
