Default Should parents pierce their children's ears?

So question?

Should parents pierce their child's ears before they can consent to their ears being pierced?

I think a young child between new born and possibly 10/11 shouldn't have their ears pierced, as a child cannot consent to it being done? Maybe a lil bit younger than 10/11. but a child should be able to say yes or no to ear piercings!

What are your thoughts?

i think they should let the child decide when they're older :o as you can't undo piercings, at least i don't think so?

Well, you can just leave the piercing out and it could heal. But still?

I mean, I don't find piercing ears to be an inherently detrimental process to kids so I don't really think there is any reason why parents should not be able to pierce their kids ears. But there's nothing wrong with allowing a kid to wait until they're of age to decide from themselves either

I agree! It's not detrimental to a kid, But it could just be something a kid chooses rather than being given it.

I had mine done around 11 maybe?

My Mom wouldn't let me get my pierced until I was 12, that way she knew sure sure that was what I really wanted. She doesn't believe in altering her kids bodies, and I'm going to do that same thing.

Same!!!!!
The child should choose for themselves. My 4-year-old sister better not get her ears pierced by my parents.

I think let the child decide for themselves when they're old enough. I also don't see any need for parents to apply any pressure on the children. When the child asks the parents "May I have my ears pierced" and the parent considers the child old enough to know what it is about, that's the time to do it.

I got my ears pierced when I was 5. My parents made sure I was able to say yes and understand what I was doing. Also I did dance when I was younger so I needed them done for that.
