Confused1 Isolation in Schools

Isolation in schools is where a student is made to sit within a room all day on doing work on their own. Theyre alone at dinner and break time too.

Do you think that it is right making a student sit in a room on their own if they have misbehaved? Do you have the same system in your schools? How would you feel if you were put in isolation?

Personally I hated it, I was in a room with a few other people, all of us facing away from each other within a painted blue cubicle with a desk in front of us. We werent allowed to talk at all, leave the room unless it was to the toilet which was part supervised, at dinner we werent allowed to talk to each other at all. I think the only good thing about this was that your work certainly would get completed on time, but there is downsides like lack of a proper teacher to ask questions of when you needed any help.

Many people would just run off at any chance they had but always land back in their the next day.

We (meaning my school) do have a system; we call it In-School Suspension (ISS), and if you're put in there, you just sit around all day doing work, but we don't have a cubicle.

If I was put in there, I would scream, cry, and beat myself up because I'm not a troublemaker.

For the record, I think it depends on what the students did to land them in isolation.
If their behavior wasn't THAT bad, then they shouldn't be there.

Ah, ISS, I got sent to that once in elementary.

But my old English room is the new ISS room (it's out side).
Actually, I kind of liked it.
Besides... He started it! I just finished it!

Okay, personally, isolation would be fun for me.
I'd get my work done instead of being distracted all the time.
But, also, because I know all the information already -- I just don't wanna do the work.
And thus any other time, I'd totally blow it off.

yeah ISS we had that in my middle and high school too - It wasn't a big deal, how long did you have to stay in there? we just had the standard 8:30 - 3:15 times. It wasn't so bad really, plenty of time to read.

Had it at my old school, it was used as quite a severe punishment. Which was of course fantastic, because all it meant was that they got out and did the same sort of thing again...

Sounds Great. Isolation would be great for me(introvert, get sick of people easily). but yeah I'm sure it would kill most other people. most troublemakers need an audience, effective method for most by the sounds of it.

we dont have isolation, punishment, is detention during lunch, after school detention, phone call home, suspension, expulsion...
and i think it pretty much works, no one has been expelled in my knowledge for years..

Nothing in the sky said run for cover,
There was no parade,
No lights flashing,
No songs to sing along the way. ♥

We had that ISS in my old high school. It wasn't bad at all. Instead of wasting 8 hours in class, I got all the work done in under an hour and I read and drew the rest of the 7 or so hours I was in. Not a punishment at all.

We had isolation had my high school. But we had a sustem that you go in isolation just for 2 hours. I think students don't care. I went about 15 to 20 times. I don't even remember. And that for stupid things that I wont tell about here.

But really,, it's always the same student that are there, I even made friend at the isolation. And nobody really learn from it, since I said it was always the same person.
