Icon9 Therapist Stood Me Up.....

well today i had an appointment with my therapist who i just recently started going back to.......
and well, she basically stood me up..

i sat in the waiting room and listened to weird sitar music for a good 40 minutes and waited for my therapist to come and get me from the waiting room and she just never did
so i eventually left and walked home.......

so she like forgot we had an appointment or something?

so my mom emailed her and asked what happened, and she hasn't responded.
and i swear i heard her talking to someone else working there while i was sitting in the waiting room today..

i'm just really confused and hurt, i really count on my therapist and today was supposed to be really important because there was things i really needed to tell her and shit like that.

should i get a new therapist? what the hell do i do? i don't really trust her anymore at all. cause this isn't necessarily the first time this has happened.....

This is something you should talk to her about. I mean if it's not the first time and there's a pattern, yeah, get a different one. But first you should talk to your therapist and explain to her how you feel about this. If she doesn't know then she can't fix it. Explain to her how important it is that you are seen during your scheduled time, and give her another chance. If this happens again, find a new therapist.

Did you ever ask while you were there?

When you go anywhere you have to wait; dentist, doctor, tire-shop, etc, if they give you a time frame (when they will start/finish/etc) and it goes beyond, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Did you sign in at the desk there?
Or next time just ask the receptionist. Sometimes things come up, or there's bigger issues and that. they SHOULD have let you know, but still. ask for an explaination or something. Don't just lose trust or move on because of this, You said it happened other times? how many times and did you ever find out why? I get it hurts but your therapist also helps a lot of other people as well.

^This.

I get that things happen; so asking her for an explanation is needed. That hour is "your hour"; the therapist should always make every effort available to them to be present and focused on helping you during your appointed hour. And if they aren't able - than they should provide an explanation and not let you sit in the waiting room. That bit isn't acceptable on the therapist's part.

Ask her for an explanation and tell her how you feel about it.
