Default how do you findsomeone to support you

when i talk to my mom...ask her how to stay together she's always saying "you should be doing this, you aren't doing this right, " and she nags and nags

i am 17 and i started college in another city. i feel really alone but. i always show my happy side to people.. its like i don't know how to confide in people almost. when i confide in my parents they patronize and tell me to stop whining.

like i am trying to learn new things, really hard things. i am doing online courses added to my summer classes because they are really good -- but also really hard. how do you continue to work hard when you feel lonely?

i don't want to go home ever. i want to just do well and come out on the other side.

i never hear anyone tell me "you're doing so good at this just keep doing this"
i am starting to realize thats what i really need…

do you think you can do things alone or not?
how do i stay positive?

being with people doesn't make me feel better... just alone because no one cares like i do about staying out of my old town. when i was young parents tore down my self-esteem a lot, i don't know why i even expect them to help me put it back together. sometimes i want to curl up ad die. i am not suicideal tho

i have a shrink who is really cool.. i think my problem is i dwell on my problems too much.

do you think its possible to stop dwelling? lemme know

Pm me if you want, I know what you mean by feeling isolated but I kind of know how to get around it.

Yh, I know what you mean about the parent stuff. Mine moan at me all the time to do stuff and when I try to explain that I'm lacking motivation, they just get angry and tell me to find some. Maybe you could come up with a strategy with your shrink about how to deal with this and are there any freinds who could help you through it? You could find things that inspire you and use those to drive you on (for instance being away from home and more independant in college). For the lonliness, are there any clubs or college societies you could join to meet new people?

And if you really want to distract yourself like I end up doing to stop myself from thinking, fill up your free time. Watch TV, talk to people, listen to music, find a new passtime maybe. And also if you're doing a boring task, let your imagination go, maybe you're doing that task in a different setting, with someone you like or something. That helps get me by when I'm feeling low. The important thing is to remember that you're not alone in this, there are other people in the same boat as you.

I hope this helps in some way, feel free to message me anytime you want to talk.
