Hey.
I am sorry to hear you are self harming. People do understand though. There are plenty of people out there who care and have been through the same thing. In fact, there are plenty of people on this very forum who understand and have been though the same thing.
Try talking to someone you trust about what you are going through and how it's making you feel.
You can feel free to PM me or any other member here if you ever need a chat.

Hi Angel-

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament. Whatever is the problem, I'm sure this contributes to it. If you would like to deal with it in private, create a private advice thread and a few of the staff members will be glad to give you some personal insight.

However, if not, listen to your avatar. Your heart is crying whenever you self-harm yourself. It is not the answer. The pain makes it better, but then what happens with the scars? They last forever. You need to get help if you do not believe you can beat it yourself. Do you have a hobby? A stress relief? Anything to get you better is better then nothing.

If you need anything, please do not hestitate to shoot me a message.

Finding another outlet is crucial and understanding what's behind this can help you to do that. Take my examples for instance, I was cutting because I was either angry, or lacking any emotion for anything. I starting doing more exercise to get rid of the anger and re-discovered playing music (something I really used to enjoy) so I might actually feel something other than anger or numbness. Think about why you self-harm and then think of alternative ways of dealing with those thoughts or feelings. The pre-existing scars can be reduced with Bio-oil so they don't appear as bad. If you're depressed then talk to your doctor and he or she could refer you to a psycho-therapist (or something simliar) or prescribe you medication to help ease depressed feelings.

People who self-harm often feel completely alone and isolated so it's important to remember that you're not alone in this. A lot of people (some here on Teen Forumz) here understand what you're going through as Bridie said, so any one of us will be willing to talk to you and give you advice if you want it. Stay safe

Hi Angel, I am sorry your feeling so crap. Like Callum said you need to find something else to redirect your feelings to. A simple technique used for self harm is a good ole elastic band, sticking it on your arm and everytime you feel the need to self harm you ping your arm with the elastic band, even if it is till its all red and sore. Exercise is another great outlet, especially walking/running with your music playing. Myself personally when i feel like shit I have to go walking with my music. I often walk down to the lake near my house and just throw rock in there, like pegging them. Cooking is another great outlet, even if you suck at cooking, you can easily make shake n bake cookies or something.

I hope you can implement some sort of distraction technique.
All the best Angel.

Don't you believe no one understands you my friend, this is so not true. First, there's me, I really do understand you because I've cut myself few times too. I know it helped me numb out but it only lasts one day or so. I know sport helped me a lot, because getting tired, even really tired if you feel like it, has the same effect than pain, getting really exhausted with sport kinda clear your mind, and it doesn't damage your body. It actually makes your body healthier and helps meet with a lot of new people. As another poster said, you need an outlet, it's as simple as that. And remember you're very young, we are so very young, we have so many things and changes waiting for us don' t worry and pm me if you need

i agree with everybody else of course, cutting is just a relief but it doesn't help because it just gives you scars. the best you can do is workout, do a sport, listen to some music, talk to someone, just find a relief that will have the same effect but without the scars

Try exercising, going out, and keeping yourself occupied, it helps keep your mind off things. I used to be depressed too.. due to several things that happened but I went into therapy and talking with someone really helps.. and I'm on my way to recovery (that might be an option too). At the end of the day, I can't stop you from cutting because different people have different ways of coping, just don't give up... there's always a way out no matter how hard it seems If you're feeling lonely.. I know it feels shitty, because I'm the same.. but just find some hobby's and in time try making new friends best of luck
