I agree with posters saying that our parent know better because they are older and more experienced.

That is true in most cases...but there are exceptions.
I just want those people caught up in the exceptions to know that sometimes parents are just crazy/ dumb/ dont know what the hell they are doing.
If you feel that they are destroying your life, then the next thing you do is keep your distance, move out, start living your own life with out their support.

Dont let the "you should listen to you parents" mislead you to thinking that "parents are perfect" because they arent.

Thanks Gee. I see what you mean about compromise. I think my parents are just very old school and they don't understand that I am not as naive as they were when they were my age! We have the Internet these days, we know so much more. I know I am only young and don't know a lot yet, or so it seems, but I think I know what makes me happy. And if it is not right, I'll soon find out and only through mistakes will I know I suppose.
Thing is, maybe they don't want me to disappoint them or humiliate them when I do make the wrong choice? Say like getting pregnant etc.
