OK, so I was addicted to Lost until series six. I didn't like it at first, because I didn't understand it. So here I am going to explain it to those who are confused.
Also, if you don't know what lost is then I recommend watching it because it's one of my favourite shows ever!

All right so here goes..

I'll be writing this as I was speaking to someone who didn't watch lost at all just to make sure that I'm clear.

There is an island that has a light on it. We are told that this light is inside every body and when it goes out on the island it goes out everywhere.
There are two men, the man in black and Jacob.

The man in black is evil and *spoiler* is the black smoke.
He can also look like bodies of the dead.
The man in black (MIB for short) is trapped on the island.
When the light goes out the MIB will be able to escape the island taking all his evil with him.

Now, Jacob is the island's protector. He makes sure the light doesn't go out so the MIB stays where he should be.

So, obviously Jacob and the MIB want each other dead, right?
Well, too bad they can't hurt each other.
So they have to get over people to kill the other one for them.

Now you know this, Lost will be very easy to understand if you start watching it.
I will say more but it will ruin the ending if you haven't seen it.

Jacob has chosen some people he thinks would be good to take over his role as the protector of the island. He put them all on flight 815 which crashed on the island.

The mib kills a load of people (makes a load of them kill each other as well.)
Eventually he finds someone to kill Jacob too.
So, basically the mib won - or as we thought..

Four candidates left and no people to protect the island and most importantly - The rest of the world!

The MIB puts out the light and all the islands powers are gone, therefore his powers have gone also. Him being such a dumb ape didn't think of this.

The four candidates kill the powerless MIB and Jack sacrifises himself to turn the light back on.

Jack = Dead
Hurley = New Jacob
Everyone else = Off the island! Again!

The show has the idea that you go to the afterlife with the with all your most memorable and most loved people.

So they all go to the afterlife and BOOM ending..

I've watched every episode since the very first and I still can't keep track of it all.

I like how you copied the entire explanation from a youtube video. That used the term man in black aswell
