Default Movies(Dark Versions)

Have you guys noticed that many stories for children are turned into darker movie versions.?For example, Alice in Wonderland and Red Riding Hood.

I was just wondering, what guys think about the new versions of the stories?

Red Riding Hood should never have been messed with. Hollywood has just run out of ideas on what to do, so they think remaking movies is the best way to go. Hollywood, here's my message to you:
YOU SUCK

That is all.

Doesn't bother me. I find them decent to watch. Red Riding Hood I found was a somewhat interesting take on the story though.

I like to see these movies to see just how they do them because you have to remember something, the stories were actually dark to begin with.
Now they're just making them dark and... weird beyond the reach or reality. Not that Alice in Wonderland and Red were well within reality to begin with (well, depending on how you want to interpret it - but the recent movies did them more literal).

I'm most concerned with Hansel & Gretel... witch hunters? Really? I mean it might be an interesting concept but I get the feeling they'll fuck it big time by adding romantic interests for either Gretel or the both of them. Romantic interests almost always ruin sheer badassery.

Now, Snow White.... this movie has been done more times than I can count. However the ones I've seen have been pretty good. So far, from things I've heard, this new version in, I think, pre-production shows promise. Still... needs to be badass in some way.

Red Riding Hood wasn't badass enough. It could have been so much better. Yes, Hollywood has run out of ideas. They ran out of ideas a LONG time ago. But if they are going to do something dark, then they should at least make it badass and enjoyable. Also, within the realm of reality. Fantasy is one thing, this doesn't mean you should bullshit us. Tropes are one thing, cliche's are another.

Anyway, most of these stories were actually not originally meant for children, they've just been changed around to be made for children. A lot of them were bloody, violent, mean, and nasty. Except maybe Alice. I don't know, I haven't finished the book yet.

I also find them interesting, but Red Riding Hood sort of disappointed me.
