(Personally, I think some of the darker scenes in Titanic won't look good in 3d). Second of all, I won't see it because I don't want to support the 3d movie industry. The technology isn't good enough to support good filmmaking in 3d yet, in my opinion.
James Cameron won't let it be bad. I agree, usually things shot in 2d don't convert into 3D well with 1 or 2 exceptions but like I said Cameron will get it done well.

Besides, both Titanic and 3D are too facking mainstream for me.
Sometimes mainstream is good. Nolan's Batmans are mainstream imo.

Like somebody said, it's not really a remake.

I don't think he has much of a choice when it comes to Titanic. The one thing that 3d absolutely hates is dull dark colors. It creates 3d blur and The colors don't pop out enough from the screen. It ends up looking like a mess. One of the brilliant moves Cameron made in Titanic was the use of shadow in his Mis en scene. I dare say this will be lost in a 3d version unless it was shot at a higher frame rate (although it's still debatable to ether this would work or not). Further more, I heard that the Super35 process of flimmaking causes problems with 3d because of the flat lens and matted portions of the framing. (Although I only caught a summary of that discussion so I don't know all the details about it.) So, in my opinion, it doesn't matter how talented Cameron is. The movie will still lose a lot of it's visual panache.

He doesn't die though. At the beginning of Inception, he wakes up on a beach.

...Think about it!
