I am sick of the remakes, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is supposed to take place after the original sequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and what happens to Leatherface after the death of Chop Top and Dayton.

It'll keep being remake after remake until the blockbusters stop making so much money for the studios. The reason we keep having remake after remake is because we keep paying to see them. We can blame Raiders of the lost arc, Jaws, Star wars, and Heaven's gate (as much as I love those movies) for this period of a "producers medium". And when people stopped paying to see them so much they invented 3d surcharges to ensure they were making enough money. What we need to encourage is putting the creative process back in the hands of the directors as was happening in the American new wave (New Hollywood).Ever since the Blockbuster took over, movies have been lacking serious creativity. Although, there have been notable exceptions especially in non-english speaking countries.

Anyways, now that my rant is over, Texas Chainsaw massacre is a sequel to the original and Halloween is in the 3rd movie of the second incarnation. There's no need to remake these movies. Rob Zombie already butchered Halloween in a remake and Nispel did even worse with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The chance that these are even comparable to the originals are very slim. Especially since their being shot in 3d.

Those movies scare the hell out of me.

I don't like 3d movies... actually every single movie is made in 3d technology and it's really hard to find some 'normal' one. I'm tired of that...
And how many remakes of old horror would they make? It's getting be boring...

I think 3D movies aren't that bad, it's nice to see them once in a while if they are good.
3D scary movies? No Way! Who would want to watch scary movies in 3D?

The problem isn't remakes or sequels. It's remaking and giving them to already bad movies. That or one was good enough (like the original Halloween and Jaws).

But things like Star Wars, needed sequels because it's an epic story that couldn't have possibly fit into one movie. And I'm talking about episodes 4, 5, and 6. 1, 2, and 3 needed serious work and a lot of the casting was horrible and the romance in it wasn't natural with Pademe and Anakin like it was with Leia and Han Solo. Lucas was right in dowing 4, 5, and 6 first is what I'm getting at.

The problem is the constant remakes and retelling of stories that were perfectly scary because we didn't have the whole story. It's like Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He was perfectly scary without the forced sympathy we were supposed to feel for him because of his fucked up childhood.
In the original Halloween, it was much better. Mike Myers had a perfectly fine upbringing... he was just batshit insane as it was. We felt no sympathy for him, that's why he was scary.

That's like remaking Jaws only to find out the poor poor wittle maneater was captured from the wild and horribly abused by the evil man and then it escaped... and for whatever reason had a personal vendetta against one man and then later his family. Yeah, perfect sense! No, the coldblooded and irregular behavior of a shark is what made Jaws so scary. It's even said in the movie sharks mistake humans for other sea creatures and normally spit them back out after they discover it's not their usual prey. But no, Jaws was a maneater... ergo, terrifying.

Point, some remakes are good, most are not. Esp. mordern day ones which fuck everything up about a movie.

Oh and 3D. RealD is passable, but hardly worth-while.
