I've just gotten back from seeing it. Why I went in the first place, I will never know - probably so I can come back and either write a good or bad review!
I shall start off by being as blunt as I can about the first two movies:
HSM 1: Decent - Some good songs plus they didn't have Troy and Gabriella kiss!
HSM 2: It sucked - songs were not as good, maybe one good one. The idea of a Summer movie is good and all... But I don't think it was executed well. So this means HSM 3 would have to redeem itself!
And in my honest opinion... It actually met, yes I mean met - not close to - I mean MET, my high expectations!
The songs, so much more kick-ass!
The cast, new characters and the old ones seemed to have a bit more depth to them.
The lighting, very very good! It was like - big-screen lighting because it actually went up on the big screen! The lighting in the movie was darker, and everything looked so much better!
It had some wonderful effects in it too - things that I did not expect!
And the dancing... Wonderful.
Now, as usual - they had some sappy moments. But that's just how it goes.
It had a few interesting surprises as well.
One song stood out the most to me, personally.
And that song was "Scream" sung by Zac Efron (Troy) - The song just by itself was greatness but added with the dancing and the lighting -- words cannot express my praise for this part of the movie. As an added note, right before the song started Troy puts on his jersey and the one thing going though my mind was "Damn! That man has great back!" - which I don't think often so that just tells you how great it is~ lol
Now, me, I did not like HSM before this - but now I like this movie.
On My Rating Scale: 4.3/5 Stars
Points Off:
- The roof-top moment - that whole "water" part was not needed
- Gabriella being such a Mary-Sue! AGAIN! She's always little miss perfect in these movies, I'm tired of it! Don't get me wrong, she's actually quite pretty - but give her a bigger flaw!!
Points Added:
- Zac's back... That alone was worth a 3 point bonus (I say this in jest)
- Troy's Angst-like song, which I loved!
- Sharpay... Because of how she confronted Tiara. Besides, I love Sharpay~
- Ryan. Because he's Ryan, do I need another reason?
- Chad, Corbin's character - He was much better in this movie.
- The one Classic Comedy scene! It has been done so many times in High School movies, but even still it's a Classic! And I'm surprised with small children in the Audience that they did it!!
So if you don't like HSM, I wouldn't bother going to see it unless you go in there with the thought of "Ok, maybe this time it'll be good" - an open one in other words.
If you like it -- Go, what are still reading this for, go see it now you crazy person!
If you're just like "Yeah, HSM, whatever... I have no real opinion of it..." then if you like good music - go go now! Especially if you've never seen the first two!! Then you'll really love this!
Basically, I thought it was awesome - and yeah, I hate the second, and dislike the first.
Big-Budget Movies... They do good work.

I actuly just want to see this film to laugh To be honest.
The first 2 was blah ok i spose, only watched them as they were on the tv. Also my little cousin is obbsessed with hsm. So i think if i can find someone to go with i shall go next week maybe... unless its online before then

I dont think i'll go cause i'm not so desperate but i'll probably watch it online or when it comes out on tv.
But i do like the songs from the films. there very fun and catchy
i totally agree with you about vanessa hudgens. she's so sickly sweet...makes me abit nauseous lol
but i love ashley tisdale...she's always fun to watch.

Yes! Ashley Tisdale is awesome! I love the way she plays Sharpay, they picked the right person for her role! lol

OME! I went to see the movie with one of my friends and im here to tell you that it was totally awesome! The songs where so catchy and it was so much better than all the other ones...After we walked out of the theater, i was dancing and sining the songs like crazy... my friend was like "Please, Stop it. youre ruining the movie" I just laughed and kept on singing... I think my favorite song was Troys Scream. it was so awesome. and now i am here to tell you, the crush on Zac Efron is back on! lol
