Default High Fructose Corn Syrup

I'm sure that some of us in the U.S. have seen those goofy commercials involving corn syrup, but I'll link them any way.

Regardless, there has been a study that has shown that mice that consumed water sweetened with high fructose corn syrup as opposed to the control group of mice that had water sweetened with sugar retained much more weight. "Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same." This suggests that corn syrup might not be as good of a substitute and sweetener as sugar is for our body.

In short, I'd just like to postulate that people should be wary of the ingredients in their foods and drinks in general. Honey is my absolute favourite all-natural sweetener to use, and it is the only food item that never spoils. (Archaeologists excavating tombs in Egypt found honey as old as 6,000 years old and snacked on some with no ill effects!)

But... I like HFCS!

I'm gonna die anyway, might as well eat what I like.

That's what many people say when they're young. Haha.

I'm assuming that you're comfortable with yourself by you saying that, so that's good though. (: I'm always trying to manage my weight, so I feel differently.

Food IS food. Yes, I do agree some of the HFCS foods can be cut down. Overall though I do believe that if man kind wants to eat HFCS let them, self control can be self taught in many ways.

I just want to throw out there that HFCS is found in almost all foods now-a-days. (Alright, I stretched the truth there, but it made the point.)

The farming industry pushes so hard for it to be in foods, because its a source of income. (I say this knowing, I have family in the farming industry who have lobbied for HFCS stuff.)
