Default Japanese Street Fashion - Lolita

I guess this post is really for any type of alternative fashion, but I LOVE Japanese street fashion. Do you wear any of it at all?

Lolita
Not to be confused with the book.

Quote:
Lolita is a Japanese street fashion inspired primarily by the clothing and general aesthetics of the Rococo and Victorian periods. This fashion movement started in Japan in the 1980's and has evolved greatly since. Nowadays Lolita Fashion has grown to be relatively popular all over the world. Relatively popular for an obscure Japanese street fashion, that is. While it is true that most fashions are open to various interpretations, the term Lolita is used exclusively to describe a very specific (one could say narrow) look that is created by abiding by a number of strict guidelines and principles (see Anatomy of A Lolita Outfit). The "rules" of Lolita fashion don't exist to limit the wearer but are rather qualifiers of what makes an outfit Lolita. Within these rules however there are a variety of styles.
(Lolita Fashion - For Lolitas of All Styles)

There are many Lolita substyles, such as
Gothic Lolita - "Although the name 'Gothic' Lolita alludes to goth fashion as a whole, the style is primarily influenced by victorian inspired goth style and not cyber goth or industrial style."
Sweet Lolita - "Sweet Lolita is the most over-the-top style and includes aesthetics nearly exclusive to lolita. It is also the most child-like of the lolita styles, using many bows, ruffles and light colors to make up an outfit. The most common colors used in a Sweet Lolita outfit are pink, white, and powder blue, but an outfit can be made with nearly any pastel or plaid (or nearly any color at all as long as it is not neon)."
Hime Lolita - "Hime Lolita, or 'Princess Lolita,' is a very elegant style of lolita that often involves miniature crowns, tiaras, and extravagant or large hair, and dresses. Because Hime Lolita does reflect a sense of royalty, and class, it is hard to pull this style off unless you are very well preened, and have done your best to look 'Princess-like.'"
Country Lolita - "Country Lolita is derived from the Sweet Lolita style, and is often a little hard to distinguish due to the use of the same sweet patterns, and motifs that the Sweet Lolita style uses. How-ever the Country Lolita style can be recognised by straw baskets, hats, fruit, and gingham patterns."
Classic Lolita - "
Classic Lolita is the tamest of all the Lolita styles as many Classic dresses could pass for a garden party, church or summer dress. Unlike Sweet Lolita that is about looking cute, Classic Lolita is about looking classy, and harks back to Lolita fashion's roots in Victorian fashion, taking inspiration from the floral patterns, and the sense of elegance of the era; bold colors aren't normally found in Classic Lolita clothing."

and now time for pictures of me in Lolita :'D

Thanks
And they're sooo expensive, it sucks. There's 2 shops in Camden in London, but the only decent things there are coats (I bought one with a pink poodle on it >3<), the rest look tacky and cheap.

Most of the time I buy my clothes from Japan. Justl ike there's Chanel etc. etc. We have brands too - such as Angelic Pretty, Baby the Stars Shine Bright. They are sooo expensive. The online Lolita community seems to be based on a "if you have more brand, the more elite you are" sort of thing. I'd kill for a bran dress, but I don't see the point in paying £300 for a dress. So I usually by second hand stuff from egl_comm_sales, decent things from Bodyline.co.jp (a lot of their stuff is horrendous, but there's the odd gem) or make it!

I have a secret part of me wishing to dress gothic

Thanks!
And, I've been to the shops in Camden, I don't like Sai Sai at all, I think it's really tacky :\ Angel Pretty is better, I don't really like the dresses there (bad material, weird design), but their coats are awesome. And their name is a rip off of Angelic Pretty
