Re: uncomfortable with wearing shorts
Hi Chris,
As they say, no one sees us as we see ourselves, which is a really good thing! We're usually far more critical of ourselves than others are.
First, normal legs are very slightly 'bowed', so unless you've got some genetic condition, or did not receive enough calcium as a baby, then there's a good probability that what you have is self consciousness, not really true bow legs.
Second, once you get used to doing something (like convincing yourself that you're deformed), it's very hard to unconvince yourself. That's b/c the action of never wearing shorts keeps you more comfortable b/c it keeps your legs covered. And you naturally feel less vulnerable.
However, you have a couple of choices here. First, is to do an actual reality check, wear shorts around the house, and see what people's reaction is (hopefully, being your family, it will be neutral or positive). That will at least allow toy to be more comfortable in your own home.
And/Or, you could exercise more....walking, running, biking, will all add muscle development to your legs and fill them out, give them some definition. That happens relatively quickly during adolescence, too, b/c the key to muscle mass is exercise + testosterone, which is at a high now b/c of puberty.
Consider doing these things, it's hot out there, esp. this summer, and wearing shorts really is much more comfortable..both physically and psychologically.
