What is it that you've got and want to make use of?

Sometimes a plain top can be made to look more shapely and feminine with the use of a skinny, tan coloured belt fastened around your waist. (I say tan pointedly because it's a really lovely, authentic colour and tends to go with a lot.) And I tend to find that wearing a top in a manner that I don't normally helps ... so if you ordinarily team something wtih leggings, try it tucked into a pair of shorts or over the top of something else. I'm not saying it's guaranteed to make your outfits more peppy but there's no hurt in trying right?
This time of year when it's really bloody freezing you've also got the opportunity to layer up, and Imo it looks cute & sortof, 90s, to wear mismatched colours and lots of jumbled accessories. Take a while in front of the mirror and just try all sorts with all sorts - you'd be surprised at how well some colours go, just not conventionally!
Have you ever heard the expression 'capsule wardrobe'? The idea is that you buy a few key pieces that make one outfit, really, but that can be worn in so many different ways that it creates the illusion of owning a lot of clothes. It involves, say, making a dress look like a skirt one day, one day wearing it with tights and flats, another going bare-legged and wearing it with a plain top of a contrasting colour ... I'm sure you get the idea. For future reference it's a good idea to buy pieces that you know you can wear with multiple items of clothing that you already own. (Again, something that you likely know ... sorry! Typing it up is my insurance policy.) So if you've got a comfortable hoody that you like to wear, one day wear it with a long, statement necklace, shorts, tights and flats - and then another day swap to wearing it over leggings with more casual shoes.
