Fake tanning as in the color changing lotion?no. it always looks streaky and unnatural.
As for tanning beds, there's no difference between them and natural sunlight.
It's not the rays you're exposed to that determine the color your skin goes. it varies from person to person because the reason your skin turns color is your body's natural defense system against sunburn. The only difference between what you're exposed to in tanning beds and what you're exposed to in normal sunlight, is that tanning beds only have the UV-A rays instead of UV-A and UV-B rays like the sun has because the UV-B rays are the ones that pose a higher risk for sunburns so the UV-A rays are just intensified in tanning beds.
But again, it has no baring on what color your skin goes whether you tan in a salon or outside. it's an individual thing that varies from body to body. The only thing I can see being different is that in a salon you can tan naked and have an even tan where outside; not so much. you'll get tan lines.
so yeah, either way, I say go for it, just know the consequences of it.
