This is a question asked by a lot of people. Of course homo and bisexuality exists in our society as it does in other animals, but the question is. WHY?
Are homo and bisexuality Genetic?
Are homo and bisexuality Environmental?
Are homo and bisexuality Chosen?
Is there another reason?
What are your personal views on the origins of homo and bisexuality in humans?

I can see this thread easily getting out of hand. Let's hope it doesn't.
The only real way to look at the issue is if you take into account sexuality as a broader term so that heterosexuality is included. Then you have an answer. Why are people straight? Because it's natural. Why are people gay? Because it's natural.
For humans (and animals, I guess), the desire to love and have sex comes naturally. So perhaps it's a mix of the three elements that you mentioned. The thing is, science has yet to come to a conclusion on the subject. Some scientists say it's genetic, others will say it's environmental and then a very small portion will believe it's a choice.
In the end, the individual has to do what's natural to them and forget about the science behind it. It's not really important why people are gay. They just are and that's fine with me.
A kid who is suppressed by his parents and basically forced to e straight will grow up to be straight or at least hide his homo sexuality until he can become open about it. But how did he become gay? Is it instinctual, possibly? Reproduction is an instinct, so could homosexual sex or atleast homosexual attraction be genetic? A mutation in the normal gene for straight attraction?
Don't assume that i'm saying that the mutation is a bad thing by the way, im not implying there is anything wrong with homo or bisexuals. In fact, mutation is a catalyst for all evolution, including positive evolution.

The whole "gene mutation" idea depends on whether or not you believe in the gay and straight genes that people seem to be hyped about. There's a divide; some do, some don't. You also have to think about the physical identifiers for sexuality... there are none. So is it in the head?
When someone asks me why I'm gay, I ask them what their favourite foods are. Then I ask them why they like them. Their answers are usually something along the lines of "because it tastes good."
People tend to overthink things that seem unusual. I mean, in a room full of people who like one thing, it's hard to understand not only why one person doesn't like it, but why they'd choose something else over it. But you don't really get to control what you like. If someone told you to stop liking your boyfriend or girlfriend, would you be able to? No. It's just something that's there. So anytime you ask yourself a question about homosexuality or bisexuality, turn it around and ask it about heterosexuality, or something completely unrelated. "Are you straight because you have many friends of the opposite sex?" "Do you like girls with long hair because your friend's girlfriend has long hair?" "Why don't you just stop being straight?" When you put these things in perspective, you start to realize how ridiculous some questions are. Yet homosexuals/bisexuals are asked questions like these quite frequently.

I certainly don't think it's a choice. I mean, considering how taboo it still is and how negatively many homosexual and bisexual individuals are treated...who would deliberately CHOOSE to live such a hard life?
As for whether it's genetic or environmental...who cares?
I agree with the fact that a variety of factors contribute to sexuality, but ultimately you have little control. You cannot control who you fall for. In my opinion, your sexuality is not a choice you make, but rather your choice to embrace it. You are what you are, and whether you choose to accept that is the choice of the matter.
On a side note, I learned testosterone has some effect on determining sexuality. Wonder if that's true?
