I am metal in the purest form. It's the only thing I listen to.

I personally HATE death metal, black metal, hardcore, rapcore, and all the nu-metal subgenres... there are so many of them. I can;t stand Cannibal Corpse, I can't stand All Shall Perish, I can;t stand any band who pig squeals or doom growls.

I am a fan of folkmetal, power metal and Melodic Death Metal. Some of my favourite bands right now are Ensiferum, Kalmah, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Dethklok, Three Inches of Blood, Pantera, and of course Iron Maiden.

I'm also a fan of Alestorm, Touristas, Metallica, Mudvayne stuff like that. I liek bands that have a talent in everything, if one instrument is missing, i generally hate them.

I HATE the new metal style. I think the emotion is completely lacking, the creativity is dying, and the lyrical content is about as original as fall-out boy. Stuff like Bullet For My Valentine and Atreyu keep me awake at night (nightmares) and disgust me to the point of nausea when i do listen to them.

I hate that talent is one symmetric right now. You are considered a good guitarist if you can sweep pick and play one scaled arpeggio. You are considered a talented drummer if you can play doublekick really fast and even more so if you can play BLAST BEATS. Which I also loathe. They take talent, I will not deny that, but they should NOT be the ONLY thing you play.

My personal favourite band right now is 3 Inches of Blood. If any of you have not heard of them, but if you like the old eighties style metal like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and all the good power metal bands (Not dragonforce... another band I HATE) then you will love this band. They're a group from Vancouver Canada, and they are simply fantastic all-round. Their singer sings perfect falsetto, their old singer had a perfect scream, their guitarists are very talented and play some of the most powerful triplets you will ever hear (check out Demon's Blade for an example) and their drummer is phenomenally creative.

and that... in short... is my opinion of metal.

Oh, I also Love Tool, but I don;t consider them metal so I didn;t list them

Hey Winga, I am a fencesitter on Opeth, I like some of it, I think it's very melodic, and the singer is very talented, I still don;t like the doom parts. Black Label Society isn't much for me, it's okay, but I don't find it memorable enough. haha, yes, I have pretty exacting standards for bands

Hollywood Undead (Rapcore/Rap-Rock/Rap-Metal/Crunkcore)
Limp Bizkit (nu-Metal/Rap-Metal)
Linkin Park (nu-Metal/Rap-Rock/Alt. Metal/Alt. Rock)
Beastie Boys (Hip Hop/Rap-Rock/Rapcore/Alt. Rock/Punk Rock)
Kid Rock (nu-Metal/Rock/Hip Hop/Country)
Korn (nu-Metal/Alt. Metal)

Rap/Rock or Rap/Metal are elements of nu-Metal basically.

I would hesitate to classify any of those bands as anything more than rap/rock. If you want an example of actual rap/metal, listen to early Slipknot, such as the songs Surfacing and Spit it Out. Nu-metal does not necessarily include rap, as you listed, Korn, or other nu-metal bands, like System of a Down, most certainly do not classify as rap. Although, I will note that Chester (Linkin Park, in case you didn't know) has a fantastic scream, too bad he no longer uses it. Ever heard of his side-project Bucket o' Weenies? It's unsatisfying.

Not always, it's more of a blending thing.
I've listened to Slipknot, don't care too much for them.
