Ah, don't give up just because you think you weren't very good. I was bad when I first started guitar, but now, four and a bit years down the line, I'm a much better guitarist. It just takes practice really.
Does voice count? (I sing the most)
But I also play the violin and piano, I also used have euphonium lessons :3

No, but I used to play the French Horn.
I was actually pretty good at it. But when you're a shy and nervous girl with low self-confidence in a class full of boys, most of who are older that you, and then become the only French Horn player and have to play a part which involves the flutes and french horns - but you're the only one in there to play it (classes are broken up by sections - I was in the brass section) so then it becomes a solo for a time being.
Well, you eventually become terrified shitless to play in front of people.
I don't play well in front of guys - mental scaring from when I was younger.
*still bitter about it*
So... I gave up on it. Besides, I seemed to have gotten worse as I played more.
Which is sad considering I scored higher than possible (it went up to 6, but I got a 6+).
Oh, that and I didn't want to do marching band - which my parents would have made me do.
Anyway, I don't see the point in me playing an instrument... I have major Topophobia (and Glossophobia).
Though, the funny thing is, if I actually get out there and do it, I totally blank out but when I'm done I remember absolutely nothing about it but people always tell me I did a good job.
But, I don't actually remember what happened so... yeah...

Voice counts, it's a beautiful instrument. I admire you for playing violin, there's something about the violin that lights up a spark in me, even thoguh it has a sad tone, its sound is so unique and it sounds beautiful when orchestrated well.

There are plenty of free resources on the internet on other websites, try googling. And also, there are plenty of beginners DVDs that aren't too expensive that you can find in shops and online to help give you a start. I used a DVD to help me when I first started.

It's a shame you don't see the point in you playing, but if your topophobia and glossophobia prevent you from enjoying your playing experience then I can see why you'd want to stop.
I was in two bands, a band with my school friends which hasn't been active because no shows at school have came up, and another band which the singer left a few months back, and we haven't been able to find a replacement. I have low-confidence playing in front of people, but I found that with more experience playing in front of people I have gained confidence, but I am not much of a showman, so whilst my playing is good, it would probably bore people to see me standing still most of the time when I play.
