My friend suggested I could learn, and I thought it could be good idea because it would be something interesting to do and I love music and want to be in a band when I'm older, so learning an instrument would be good. If I'm going to learn, first I'll have to ask my mum, save up for a guitar and then find lessons somewhere, so I might not be able to learn. But if I can, I was wondering if I should.
Firstly, I wouldn't know whether I should learn accoustic before electric. I like metal and rock music so that is the type of music I'd want to be able to play, so I think maybe I should learn electric. But is that a good choice for beginners? I was wondering because you have to buy amps and all other stuff. I don't really know what else you would have to buy because I don't know that much about guitars. Also, I don't know what type I would get if I was going to learn. I wouldn't want to buy something too expensive because there's a chance that I might learn for a bit then decide it isn't for me, but I wouldn't want to buy one that is too cheap because it would probably be rubbish.
By the way, it isn't likely that I will learn guitar, it's just an idea. But it is something I want to do, so I could use the advice incase I am able to buy a guitar and learn. Sorry if I sound stupid..

i can't play myself, but i'm pretty good at guitar on xbox' Rock Band.
I used to play the recorder in primary school, but that's hardly a metal or rock instrument

I'm not going to. That's why I'm going to ask her, then if she says yes I'll get more details about what type of guitar to get and what else I'll need, then I can choose what guitar to get and save up for it.

well tell your mum that you'll pay her back once you're rich and famous. tell her you'll buy her a super cool house or something, and she can use your private jet anytime she wants.
