How many of you listen to heavy metal, metalcore or post-hardcore? examples: Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men, Attack Attack. And if you do which is your favorite singer and why?
What is your exact definition of metal, all the subgenre's? The Founding genre? Led Zeppelin isn't metal, because they never claim it, Steppenwolf? Black Sabbath, but then there are bands like Primus, experimental metal. Please clarify.
I often don't have a rhyme or reason, only a rhythm.
Screamo, doomcore, and all tht stuff really makes me sick. As a musician and someone that knows people in these kinds of bands, its a real turn off musically. Its noise. The problem with these bands is that too much is going on. You cant have screaming guitars, screaming singers, and violent drums at once. It all blends together as white noise.
Also, heavy metal isnt screaming, squealing,etc. Heavy metal is something like Motorhead, Godsmack, or Megadeth. Heavy vocals, heavy instruments, but everything is balanced. If one instrument is uber heavy, another backs off.
Im a heavy metal fan, but screamo and doomcore stuff realllllly turns me off.
Theres also lighter metal like Mr. Bungle, Primus, etc.
I like trivium (heavy metal), rise to remain (metalcore), Iron Maiden (heavy metal)... I like loads but those are the three I picked out the top of my head.

Nahh s'all shit. All I can tolerate is Metallica and Iron Maiden. I don't think SOAD counts as heavy metal, but I like them.
