I do really think that distortion is amazing, guitarists and all others are still creating music, not studio generated crap, stuff that they put together by mastering their crafts.

Well "studio generated crap" is still created, and requires creativity and skill. To me at least, music is broadly defined. If a composition of sound is appealing to people then I would consider it music. In theory, instruments are simply vessels through which music is created. In a way, a computer and a guitar accomplish the same thing. At least from my stand point.
Edit: Wow, I pretty much just said what Nobartholem said.
