It can be spelled Paedophile or Pedophile, they are both pronounced the same way and mean the same thing as pertaining to the actual medical definitions.

Pedo is just an alt. spelling of Paedo is all.

NOW "Ped" and "Pedo" CAN refer to foot... however, it also is referred to as Soil and Children.
Because Pedi - like Pedicure, for example. Means foot.
But Pedo and Peda mean children.


Thus, concluding that in medical terms:
Pedo/Paedo = Children
Podo = Foot


Peda, Pedi, and pedo are prefixes that comes from the Greek prefix “παίδ-”(pais) commonly meaning "boys" as well as "children"

Thus concluding there is more than one word for each meaning.
Thus concluding that while one word can literally mean something, this does not mean it is the definition that is correct.

But, it's just confusing to think that Pedophile is the correct spelling, even when you explained it is one of many words for foot.

And, If it were not meant to be spelt like that, would that mean that Paediatric care (Child doctoring) would be called Pediatric care?.

The correct is Paedophile.

This is just another way for Americans to butcher the English language to suit them.

probably not much to d with this, but there was actually an incident where a paediatricans practise was burnt down because his name was in the news paper as a paediatrician and a mob didnt understand that it didnt mean paeophile.

And anyway, Paed means CHILD or SMALL, where as PED means FOOT, CHILD (According to Ray, no evidence as of yet) and SOIL.

And holy crap, PEDicure, the I is just a way of joining up the prefix with the suffix, because pedcure does not sound right, just as Paedo is not a word, Paed is, the O is to join up the prefix with the suffix, thus giving us paedOphile.
