Not really much of a rant, I just wanted to mention something that just happened.
A girl added me on MSN some time a go. I believe she was from Teen Forumz (not sure though). Today for the first time she messages me asking who I am. The conversation was as follows;
Quote:
Bethany (L) Reece says:
*Heyy whos this ? x
Kirk Wood says:
*Well, you added me so...
Bethany (L) Reece says:
*naa u added me ? x
Kirk Wood says:
*Nope, you added me.
...and then I was blocked.
If you're going to add me for no reason and then forget about me a few days later, just don't bother doing it in the first place. My previous MSN address had over 900 contacts and every-so-often I'd get someone asking who I was...when the vast majority added me. I always had the courtesy to explain to people I did add where I found their address and why. I find it extremely irritating, especially when you're ignorant and just block me like the person above.
Also, random friend-requests on Facebook annoy me. Usually they're either a girl trying to make themselves look popular by having a load of friends, or some tit who I don't even know. Don't waste my time. xD
I'd assume she's from here. But I didn't stay on, I was just checking to see if a certain person was signed on, and they weren't so I logged off right away.
@Kirk. Apologies if I'm missing the point but if you don't want random adds on Facebook or MSN then why link them to your Teen Forumz profile?

Random adds are fine. I like to meet new people and if Facebook/MSN is going to help improve my relationshp with people (IE. Opening new ways to communicate), then I'm all for it.
What I find irritating is people who add for the sake of adding. If you don't have the intention to talk to me and get to know me, why add in the first place, so you can go to all your friends and say "Oooo, I have 594 friends on Facebook!! "? This particular case annoyed me because I was more than happy to actually speak to the person, but (as usual) I wasn't given a chance and was blocked.
The vast majority of the adds I've had from Teen Forumz I've accepted, because I know the people and speak to them on a regular basis. I also publicly display my MSN/Facebook because, like I've said, I'm open to speaking to new people and getting to know them better. Sometimes I'd rather people make the "first move" and add me instead.
I understand where you're coming from. I don't even know if my explanation really justifiies why I do display my details; but there's your answer.
