I'm pass the drop date for my second summer class. I was told that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take a failing grade.
FML. My first failing grade EVER. This is going to screw up my GPA and everything. -cries-

It's okay David, try your best with effort. Besides, it should make you choose wisely before choosing a class. It's a lesson to be learned: Don't drop a class because you're going to fail it.
Don't worry about it, you have chances to raise it.
Its one of my Bible classes that focuses in on Johannine Literature.

Except I just checked and my professor has entered and locked my final grade for the course as an "F".

You will have other classes that will boost your GPA. Unless your GPA is less than 3.0, don't worry about it. College is difficult, if you manage a 3.5+ you're set to go.
Let it be a lesson that you shouldn't escape a class because you're realizing you're failing. A lesson to be learned to choose your classes wisely.
It's not a big problem unless it's a requirement to graduate from that college. Perhaps you can retake it and they'll replace the F with the new grade if you decide to.
I would talk to your counselor to see if that option is available to you.

Is it a required class?
I don't think it's a huge deal if you usually get good grades, if you show an upward trend from here then everyone will probably understand that this particular class was just kind of hard for you.
I had a similar situation this summer...I took Photography so I could fulfill the Applied Arts requirement at my school and hopefully raise my GPA (which isn't bad, but could be higher), and I got a C.

Someday yet, he'll begin his life again
Life again, life again...
First fail ever? you have nothing to worry about, hah.
Little white flowers will never awaken you, not when the cold depths have all but overtaken you.
Dearest, The days are all so long,
and in the shadows I spend them all.
My heart and I long for slumber.
Slumber I'm caressing you, I bless your touch, I lust for you.
Slumber you are not a dream, Not as much as you seem.
