That's why it's a double standard.

I agree with the basic principle of what you said, but come on dude, practice what you preach.
I'm fine with people insulting the left. In fact, lots of people do it in the US. Fox News is an entire, extremely successful news channel built on the simple concept of talking aobut why the right wing is better.

First of all, don't act patronizing. That is bad Internet etiquette. Secondly, I didn't stereotype anyone. All I said was: It bothers me that it is okay to stereotype the US, but it is not okay to stereotype other countries. See, stereotyping is bad and it frustrates me that it is still okay to stereotype the US. Sorry, I know I'm acting patronizing myself, which is hypocritical, its just bothering me that you somehow missed the point of my entire rant and I have to explain it again.

I never call anyone stupid based on were they live or were born, the whole concept alone is stupid. I call people stupid based on their actions, not their color, creed, politics, or nationality.
You aren't racist, so I'm not calling you that. You never said anything racist at all in this entire post, so I don't know why you would assume I'd do that. Secondly, I'm fine with you calling everyone a fucktard. Third, yeah that's a good thing that you call people stupid based on their actions. So do I. We should start a club.

I never called anyone stupid. I just said that the fact that it is still okay to sterotype the US still bothers me. What the fuck? How the hell did you twist my debate into me calling you personally racist and stupid. I don't even fucking know you.

In conclusion, you missed the point of my entire post but decided to comment anyways.

I'm sorry!" Just bothers me.

And yes, I'm fine with people insulting the US; its by no means perfect. In fact, due to right wing extremists fucking things up, we are very far from perfect. But it irritates me that its considered racist to talk about other countries with even worse problems in a negative way. Like you can say, "Americans are fucking idiots" but you can't say, "South Africans are fucking idiots."
Holy smokes, I was following your point and nodding my head as I read... up until we hit the section I bolded and underlined. But rather than sit here and say why that statement nearly kills your entire point, I'm just going to smile and say: Get it right before you use a stereotypical notion and seek to attack others using the same logic that's currently pissing you off.

Anyways, to give some sort of contribution to this thread: Yes, this standard is somewhat irritating to me as well. However, I don't encounter it being much of a problem; generally if you can call my country idiotic or stupid - you've given me the right to say the same about yours. Suck it up and deal with it.

Either way, my issue with double standards is more or less the double standard the United States itself is guilty for when it comes to women and minorities. But that's for another thread and another time.

To say that I think a political group is not good for our country is not stereotyping. What political groups have in common is what they want to do for/to a country. What the right wing want to do/for the US, in my opinion, is making things worse. This is somewhat off topic, but I think that if you want to keep fighting wars with foreign countries, you should want to do something besides lower taxes, especially when you're in debt.

It would be a stereotype if I say; "Black people are all gangstas." And it would also be racist.

It is not a stereotype if I say, "I dislike orange blankets because they are all orange."

Perhaps it isn't stereotyping. However, there might be another problem with that statement. It's making to quick of an assumption. You're assuming that everybody in a party wants to destroy the country they live in because what they are doing is having negative effects. When you think about this, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that this is the correct assumption. One can unintentionally hurt a country even if all they are trying to do is improve it to the best possible state. (See Breshnev, Gorbachev, Mao, etc). That's the other logical assumption. That the party wants what's best for the country but chose a route that didn't lead to where they wanted it too. It would make more sense that a party wants to help the country they live in because it would benefit them. Making the country worse would not benefit them. So I would think that one could not affirm for sure that the party wants to make things worse when that seems to be the least likely assumption out of the possible array of such things.
