I'm pissed off about maths. We're learning about something really pointless and stupid, which I don't really understand properly. My teacher doesn't help - when I ask for help, he either ignores me, tells me to stop moaning and get on with my work or actually shows me what I'm supposed to be doing, but when he does.. he shows it on the board to everyone, instead of just showing it to me. Sometimes he even stops the class to make them listen to it, when they're doing their work and they actually understand it. Also, he said my friend's work was right and then said my work was right too - we both had different answers. He does stuff like that a lot, and it confuses me. A lot of the time, I don't know what I'm doing in his lessons.
He goes too fast when explaining things, doesn't even explain it propperly and expects us to be able to do everything just because we're set one. For lessons, we have these things where it says "All, most and some"; so for all, everyone has to be able to do it by the rest of the lesson; for most, most people have to do it; and for some, only some people are expected to do it. But he just says "Forget this all, most, some stuff - I want ALL of you to do that, ALL of you to do that and ALL of you to do that." Then he was saying about the GCSE levels.. "This is set one.. We want A's and A*'s. Anything bellow - not interested". Well maybe people would actually do better and I would understand things if he was a better teacher!
My friend missed two of the lessons about that topic because she had to go to the hospital, so she didn't know what we were learning about. So she kept asking him and asking him for help, and he just ignored her; then he said "Bethany can explain it to you." I got mad then because I'd been asking him for help and didn't understand, so I said "But I don't even understand either! I can barely explain it to myself - let alone someone else!" and he said that was complete rubbish because I'd stayed in the day before to finish my work and apparently I did something well. I understand it a bit more now, but not completely. He also called my friend a "mule" for "moaning all the time". He's complained to me about "moaning" too. She does ask him a lot of questions because she's very good at maths, so she usually finishes before everyone else and needs other work to do, but you can't blame her for asking him multiple times when he ignores her.
My maths teacher last year was much better - she was stressy sometimes, but she helped me a lot, made me a little bit more confident in my abilities in maths, pushed me to do well and explained things to me properly. She told me that I wasn't rubbish at maths like I thought I was and that some other people were just better than me, like I'm better than a lot of people in English. My friend has complained to her about him. I wish I had her or someone else as my teacher this year.. Since I'm in year 10, I'm probably stuck with him for both of my last years..
Well aren't I going to do great in maths...

Before ,I was very very bad in Maths ,but since I do a lot of Maths exercices at home ,it's easier !!
You schould ,try to work at home and after that you will be great in class
That's ridiculous. You should ask another maths teacher for some help or ask your parents to call the school about it. Your exam results should not be at risk because of an awful teacher. I really hope you get this sorted.

Good luck !!
I'm supposed to be good at maths because I'm in set one, but I struggle with a lot of the set one stuff. I tried to go on the maths website that the school uses, but I couldn't find the lesson for what we are learning. I don't know if I could be able to do it from doing exercises at home - I think I need things propperly explained to me first :/

I know - if the teacher my friend complained to does something about it, me and my friend could ask her for help. I would ask my mum to complain, but my mum is already going to ring the school on Monday about a fight I got into on Friday and the fact I've had a break and lunch time detention, will have an hour detention on Monday and that I have the same punishment as the bitch I got into the fight with, when I was just defending myself and came home with scratches. Ugh, stupid school. I agree, and I hope so too.
And I have homework which has A and A* level work on it, and he said we have to do all of the question. Yeah, like I can do that. Dickhead.

Your Maths teacher reminds me of my own Maths teacher... So alike.
I actually love Maths, but with that teacher I start hating every moment of it.
"If I do good, people might accuse me of selfish, ulterior motives, but I will still do it. Because I believe no one is malicious, not in their core, in their raw being.
The best in them is clouded by sorrows and fears, take those away and you'll bring out the brightest of lights in them.
Because no one can be happy without being kind, without giving ourselves to another, and we all love to give ourselves, it is our true nature.
That is why, even if I might get disappointed, I'll always give the best I've got. A single candle can light a thousand others and still burn." - Skezra
I loved doing maths last year, my teacher was amazing and I got really good marks. Now I hate my new teacher, and we never get anything done in lessons. Its not great when we've just started GCSE. I feel for you. :(

Thanks. Ugh, it sucks - I had him in year 8 and all we did was mess about because he couldn't teach or control the class. I didn't even progress a sub level then o.o
I hope your maths improves too.
