After a few days of trying to get the webcam on my computer to work, I have found the solution: There isn't one.

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and come to think of it, I hadn't used my webcam since I upgraded it. Was working fine last time I used it. I was on MSN the other day trying to use it and it kept crashing. I thought it was MSN, but it wasn't and then, I thought it might an outdated driver or corrupt software, so I reinstalled the software and drivers. No luck. Tried running the webcam in other programs. No luck.

Well, Google suggested that I get on the Dell website and make sure that my computer is fully compatible with Windows 7. Guess what? IT'S NOT! It didn't even pass basic functionality tests. It works brilliantly on my computer, though, and I've had no issues with it other than the webcam. There's no way to make the webcam work, either. :( I didn't install Windows 7, my stepdad did. I assumed that he checked the compatibility as he's a computer whiz, but I guess not.

So, it's either have no webcam or I downgrade back to Windows Vista, which sucks balls! I'm screwed either way!

I despise windows 7...

I use my mom's laptop a lot and I can never frickin find anything on it! And it has all these auto features, like while dragging shit it goes fill size, it groups all of one thing like msn or ff windows. it's so bloody stupid. It's not even that much faster!

I had WinXP on my desktop and I LOVED IT. However, my laptop came with Vista which SUCKS so hard. It's worse than Win7.

Gah. Id die. I mean I need a new computer because my screen is broken so have to have a hugeass desk screen on the side of my bed...and a huge fan under my laptop xD But windows7 sucks sooo bad.. and vista killed my brother's computer

You reinstalled all the drivers which didn't solve the problem so it looks like you'll need to get a new webcam...

Windows XP is still the most favoured OS by a lot of people, due to its simplicity and everyone being used to it.

Windows 7 is awesome though, just takes some getting used to =)

Aw sorry dani. Is it a built in webcam? How annoying that it doesn't work. I love windows 7 though. So much better than vista.

I've got vista, it's terrible, but I can work it better than Windows 7
Sounds like you'll have to get a new webcam, The same kind of thing happened to my brother a while ago, and he had to buy a new one.
It's so irritating when stuff like that happens.
