sometimes we put up walls , not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to knock them down.

What Allan said pretty much sums it up in the most perfect way possible.

Little white flowers will never awaken you, not when the cold depths have all but overtaken you.

Dearest, The days are all so long,
and in the shadows I spend them all.
My heart and I long for slumber.
Slumber I'm caressing you, I bless your touch, I lust for you.
Slumber you are not a dream, Not as much as you seem.

Hey boy, why are you so pissed? Just relax and get used to it....
Any person who will talk to you shit about your country and say bad things or blame you for what your country have done as if you represent it would be just an idiot ignorant whose brain still needs a lot of knowledge and experience!
I don't believe that I represent my own country when I'm with foreigners or something, and never will. I represent myself, and by that, I mean only myself. I don't believe that a person represents their whole country! and I think that this whole concept is just bullshit! People care about what you offer to the world much more than where you come from!
Most of the foreign communities I communicate with talk and think shit of my country, civilization and religion, and most of them even never heard of my country, and I don't really care! Maybe I used to in the past, before I realize how important the one is as an individual...
A person might get at you and tell you shitty stuff about your country, and then, the very next day, adores you for something brilliant you offer or do.
One more thing...Though, I seriously admire the history Greece provided the world with, I think that a person, group, or a whole nation aren't judged or respected by their past. It's not important what you did in the past, the important is what you do now!
The Arabic nation had had powerful times, but they have gone backwards when they started bragging about their past, and stopped thinking about their future! Sadly, they are still the same. That's why I don't let anybody represents me, nor I represent anybody in the world. I love my country, and will always stand by its side, but that just doesn't mean that one day I'll brag or feel shame for what my country have done, because in the end, it's not what I've done!

I too agree with Allan's point...

Here's the thing. I see both sides. I can't say you should disrespect someone else's country, but that doesn't mean you respect them.

I too agree that history plays a large role in dictating a country's respect-o-meter. However, where does that put the United States, one of the most bigoted, racist, sexist, opportunistic, greedy, nations in the world? Our past doesn't define us, it just gives an indicator to where you are going, or it sets a precedence on how we can change our future from learning from our pasts.

Greece's current economic crisis came as a result, with all due respect to the nation itself, from corruption, greed, and laziness. Greece has the lowest retirement age, the highest benefits post-retirement, and one of the fewest amount of hours worked per week in any developed country worldwide. The current Greek financial crisis and its damaging effects on the world economy do not detract from the past history- however, that does not mean I have to respect the people who run it.

But, disrespecting another person's country is never alright.
