Hypocrites (ughhhhhhhh)
Sooo yesterday I had a very long rehersal, at the end of which (9:30) I was QUITE cranky. Well my fellow percussionists in my section are all adults or college students.Okay, let me give you some background so u can understand this: The ensemble I participate in after school is a community band, open to anyone with an instrument. There are mostly adult and college students, and about 10% of us are still in High School. I'm one of them Now, story time:
So rehersal ended and I was cranky, and tired. At the end of this, its the percussionsts job to clean up our section and clean up the supplies and music. How is it that the grown men and one particular college student leaves the other 3 people (of 10) to clean up. I asked one of the men who frequently ditches to help us clean up. His Response: "Relax, I'm going". By going he must have meant leave without cleaning up, because I watched him go right out the door about a minute after finished his conversation. The section leader was talking to some other people about a mortgage. He could have taken care of his responsibilities and then chatted, he is a section leader and a supposed role model. The college student who is on his high horse was really rude to me when I asked him to help me clean up. He said to me "I clean up this band room every day, you can do it this time" Ummmmm Excuse me? I responded: "You're a member of this ensemble and we all agreed to clean up, so as long long as you're in this ensemble you have to clean up." His big closer was "I'm tired" mmmmhmm "I'm tired too, but if you clean up you can leave after you converse. You have a car. I have my parents waiting for me in the car while you're just talking."
Its amazing, I won't let them use me. Next week I'm going to clean up my stuff and leave without a word, and I realllly hope they speak up when I'm walking out the door. Because I have A LOT to say to them.
