Warning, I swear a lot in this.

OK, ok, first of all, let's get down to the basics. There's a pope, right? That's ok. The bible doesn't say we need to have a pope, it doesn't even mention a pope, so what probably happened was some guy took control of the whole situation, and said he was god on earth, and everyone believed him. OK, I think that's a load of crap, but whatever. People follow him. OK. The pope takes radical views on things. OK. People agree with the pope blindingly. HERE WE FUCKING GO!

What you believe in is fine with me, but what I have a fucking problem with is the fucking idiots who claim things as fact when there is no fucking evidence to support it. Let's take the basic example for instance, homosexuality being condemned by God. Many modern Christians believe homosexuality is a sin. As evidence they use a quote saying that if a man lies with another man as he would with his wife he should be put to death. So let's break down the issues with using this as solid evidence:

1) There's only one way to interpret this? I don't think so. The way I read this is that a man cannot have sex with another man if he is married. Who is to say that I am wrong? There is no right interpretation of this.
2) Let's assume that it's simply if a man has sex with another man he should be put to death. People use this to say that homosexuals will go to hell. No, first of all it's not an unforgivable sin, there's only one possible one mentioned in the bible and that is calling god an evil spirit, even that's debatable. Everything else is covered by the verse saying that if you repent, you will be saved, no matter what. There's no interpretation to that. You know why? That's an IMPORTANT part of the bible. Homosexuality IS NOT AN IMPORTANT PART! It was a very small theme mentioned a few times.
3) OK, so let's assume that if a homosexual has sex with another homosexual, he has committed an unforgivable sin and will go to hell. So just being homosexual makes you go to hell now. BECAUSE NOBODY FUCKING PRACTICES ABSTINENCE! NOBODY PRACTICES IT SO YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN FUCKING CONSIDER IT!

I think I've hit homosexuality hard enough, let's roll onto another topic, like birth control/abortion. Fucking great, the church decides what kind of contraceptive everyone else can use. Where the fuck do they get that right? Oh yeah, people give them that right. So people feel pressured by the pope to do this crap. He's a fucking tyrant. He's not god on earth, what the pope should do is give away all of his belongings and following the actual fucking teachings of Jesus Christ. I'm not even Christian, I'm atheist, and I know this shit is messed up.



In all, it's mostly the ignorance of the pope himself that irritates and pisses the fucking hell out of me. It's his responsibility to lead his people, and he's doing a shitty job of it. Everyone puts their faith in him, but really he's not god's representative on earth, but yet he still claims to be. What bullshit.

Organised religion, especially in the case of the Catholic church, is a crock of bullshit inherently based on power and money. Always has been.

It ultimately doesn't matter to these types of people what the Bible says or doesn't say, they're going to twist it however they want to suit their agenda.

Actually, Catholic Doctrine holds that the Pope is the sucessor of Saint Peter as the "shepherd" or "rock" of the Church.

You can't tell me that what I believe is fine and then turn around and bash why I believe what I believe. The acts of homosexuality are a sin - however, your reference is to the Old Testament - and even then, we do not make a practice of putting people to death for their sin.
Actually, you are wrong. Ever heard of exegesis versus that of eisegesis? There is a correct way to read the scripture and how to interpret it. What you're talking about is eisegesis - and honestly that's the problem. To understand what the scripture truly means one must study it. You can claim there is no correct interpretation all you want - but you're still wrong.

Homosexual acts are called abominable and are considered a sin in the scriptures. As such, it is just that - a sin. For a man to lay with another man and to engage in sexual acts is a sin. No one has ever claimed that it is an unforgivable sin.

Do you know that to be saved, you must accept Jesus as Lord & Savior? That to get to the Father, you must first go through the Son. That to be truly repentent you strive to cease sinning? Homosexual acts are considered a sin in the eyes of God - it is no worse a sin than stealing or any of the others, but a sin none the less.

Picking and choosing from the Bible again.

Wait, what? Since when has having sex suddenly made you a homosexual? Having sex with a woman does not make you heterosexual, any more than having sex with a man make you homosexual. Those are acts come from your sexuality. Committing homosexual acts is not an unforgivable sin; and "being homosexual" does not damn you to hell.

And by the way - I think you'd be surprised that there are people in the world who practice abstinence. Not everyone on the planet is as sex crazed as you would think. (Hard to comprehend for most teens who are still sex-crazed.)

Excuse me? There are legitimate beliefs about contraceptives out there. If you believe that sex is meant as a gift and should be procreating - then of course contraceptives will be frowned on. And if you believe life begins at conception - of course you're going to object to abortions - pope or no pope.

The Pope isn't a tyrant - he is shepherding the Church and what not. If you disagree with it - don't follow it. Easy as that.

In all honesty, its the ignorance of people who irritate me the most - even when that ignorance is in the form of a rant. You've no idea what you're talking about on this matter; and yet you go off on the Pope for no real reason other than someone pissed in your cheerios.

I personally don't care how flawed it is really. I'm not religious but if people choose to follow it then it's their choice if they want to. I'm not bothered as long as it isn't forced down my throat.

Edit; and some people practise abstinence...I'm supportive of abstinence.
