Better but, it's hard to make him hang out with other people besides my friends and I. He enjoys hanging out with me, and he has been more socialable since he met me (trying to be a better person).

I can't make him do anything he doesn't want to do. He doesn't really want to make other friends right now. Which I told him he should (including guy friends as I am the only -good- friend he has) in our town =since he moved away from his old one a year ago=.

Well, you can get him drunk, and then go to a party..

Seriously, I think the reason he can't let you go is because he doesn't know anyone else.. he thinks your the only person in this world who can make him happy..
You have to prove him wrong..

That's the hard part...

It's definitely hard.. but from everything you've said so far, it seems to be the only way..NO pain, NO gain... You have to do this for HIS sake, more than yours..

happy when he's with me. his family isn't really the best. He feels perky when he's around me

Well, then, give him a reason not to be with you.. Pretend your having a fever, and ask your friends to throw a party, and invite him to it, he'll meet new people, and then, he'll start the process of moving on...
How's that?
Because right now, it looks like your feeding the dog.. this way, he'll keep coming back for more.. see my point?
