Position of trust is designed to protect young people. Its not worth the risk, lets just say for him very big penalties, loosing his job and future.

Neither of us wanted to leave because we were both very committed to the role the organisation had to the public.

Before anything happened I wanted to find out all the rules which im glad I did! I walked away as soon as I found out, we were only talking about a relationship and nothing ever happened between us. we are still friends as such, she is fully understanding and is happy with the reason why which is the main thing.

I think right now, it sounds worse than it is because you're only 17. But really, I don't think a 5 year gap isn't a big deal.

True. As soon as the younger partner hits 18, people won't be that fussed anymore.
There's nothing 'eew' about it.

Er. It's 5 years, and you're technically still a minor.

I think it really depends on where he is in his life. If he's almost out of school, going into workforce, then there's a problem here because YOU'RE still in high school (Presumably). If he's doing somethign else, or you're further ahead than we assume, then there might actually be some debatability.

Generally, I'd say no that's a bit much.
