Default major crush on best guy friend who have known since childhood- Any advice welcome!!

I have a major crush on my best guy friend. i've known him since i was 6 or 7, and he's always been fairly protective of me, a bit like a brother would be. In year 8 i realised that i liked him as more of a friend but didn't say anything about it. 2 years after i realised this, i moved away, and he was really upset about it. 9 months after that i told him I liked him (via text, never a good idea) and his reply was 'wtf'. after that it took ages for it to get back to normal after that, but after it did, we met up again and i realised i still liked him. Now, a year on, i still like him, and i can't tell him in case he rejects me again, and i really don't want to lose him as a friend.
We constantly tease each other (in a jokey way). he's always calling me malteaser or goldfish.
i saw him at mass today and i haddent seen him in months, and he gave me this huge hug, like a really-tight-and-lifted-me-off-my-feet type hug and them we spent like 20 minuites joking around, trying to stand on eachother's feet, chasing round the car park etc.
I don't know what to do, wheter to tell him, or not.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed

Well, he clearly wasn't too happy when you told him about your feelings for him earlier. I think that it would be wise to confront him and have a talk with him about the whole thing, because if he doesn't feel the same way, then you're wasting your time and a good friendship.

Of course, it would be awkward to tell him, but it'd be nice to get to an answer, get this whole thing over with. If after your talk, he says he likes you too, then you can be a couple or whatever it is that you want. But, if he says he doesn't feel the same way, don't be upset, I'm sure he values your friendship a LOT. Also, it would do you good to hear it from his mouth that he wants to stay just friends. It'll get you some closure and help you move on.

Surely there might be some awkwardness for a week, but it seems that you guys are besties, and I think it'll all be better

GOOD LUCK!
